Anything with Pentatonix is an automatic winner for me. In pursuit of a fairytale romance, Layla (Christina Milian) must race through New York City with the help of a handsome and friendly ticket concierge (Devale Ellis) to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert.
Meet Me Next Christmas – Synopsis
One of Netflix’s newest releases, just in time for the Christmas season! Layla makes a promise at the airport lounge to meet James again next Christmas at the Pentatonix gig – should they both happen to be available. However, she picked Macklemore instead of Pentatonix tickets, so ends up on a wild goose chase to find them within just a couple of days.
Meet Me Next Christmas – Review
I really like the premise of this film as an interactive Christmas treasure hunt almost! The added scenes with Pentatonix and being able to see the situation from multiple different angles, with the awareness enabled through social media, is definitely a different and new take. That said, some of the hunting could have been a bit easier should common sense have been applied.
Conclusion
New and interesting, this Christmas treasure hunt is definitely a different take on a Christmas romance! That said it’s quite refreshing to have a good level of LGBTQ+ representation albeit within a straight romance, and the characters themselves are all interesting. It reminds me a little bit of Four Christmases.. If you’ve seen that you’ll know what I mean – let me know in the comments if you agree, or if I’ve lost the Christmas plot..
