To save her parents’ small-town nightclub, a Broadway dancer stages an all-male, Christmas-themed revue — and meets a guy with all the right moves, in the Merry Gentleman.
What is The Merry Gentleman about? – Synopsis
It’s essentially Magic Mike, at Christmas. Having just been fired from her dancing gig in the city, Ashley returns to her hometown to find her parents club struggling and $30k in debt. To save them from repossession, she concocts a plan – with the help of carpenter and handyman, Luke – to raise the funds needed.
Review
I’ll confess I have quite a soft spot for actress Britt Robertson after her stint in the Longest Ride – and this was definitely an easy watch. No real chance of waterworks, a few funny moments, it’s the definition of a solid 3* “fine” review.
So, is the Merry Gentleman a good movie?
It’s probably not one that I’d rewatch, but it’s decent as a one off and definitely gives a different meaning to the words “Christmas Movie”..
